Cell Tower and Resident complaint – Railroad Right-of-Way – Deer Run – Economic Development Update

This meeting has another job opening at Job & Family Services with a pay range starting at $13.99 for a Social Service Worker 2 position.

File 4 is about a “Pay-Plan” presented by the Prosecutor that is not explained very well.  While there are evidently no additional appropriations it looks like any cost saving from reduced hours for an investigator are being used for pay increases starting March 4, 2013. There is mention of a study done in 2012 among 50+ counties that must have shown Preble on the low end of the pay scale.  Marty Votel is credited with a detailed letter on the issue.

Later in this same file there is mention of the annual Dayton Development Coalition Fly-in to Washington D.C. on May 19-21. Chris Day attended last year.

File 6 has a discussion about a resident and complaint over the cell tower at the Fairgrounds. From the discussion here the gentleman may come in and address the commission at some point.

File 7 has some more discussion on the Bridges Bikes & Blues issue. The beer garden will be located in the street as previously approved by the City of Eaton and the Bands will play on the courthouse property.  My memory is that the as it now stands; alcohol consumption has not been approved for the courthouse property.

File 8 has a convoluted meeting on Deer Run that should be listened to.

File 9 has Shawnda Combs in the chamber to discuss a road trip to Lancaster in Fairfield County.  B.J. Price from Soil & Water, Jane Lightner from the Preble CVB, Rodney Creech from the Farm Bureau & the Partnership (Chair of Agra Business Development Committee) all attended with Shawnda.  There were some good ideas here but my overall feeling about her presentation was that I did not care for some of the attitude displayed.  Let me put it this way; unless she can provide proof of an invitation to all three CVBs then I think her claims of the need to build a consensus are suspect.  The same names keep popping up with Shawnda in these meetings, the circle of contacts and consensus building does not appear to be there.  The fact that it continues shows a divisive nature.  Something should have been learned from the fiasco at Goose Creek and the CVB issue, and this meeting left me with the impression that nothing was learned.
