Meet the Pastel Artists at the Art Center

Press release:

This summer, the artwork of award-winning artists from Ohio and Indiana will be on display at the Visual Arts Center of Preble County.   Artists from Aurora, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis as well as Dayton, Richmond and Eaton in this Pastel Invitational exhibit.

Featuring a wide spectrum of subjects and styles, the Pastel Invitational exhibit showcases the surprising versatility of this often underappreciated medium.   The work of local and regional artists ranges from plein air (painted in the outdoors) landscapes to courtroom sketches and everything in between.

The artists in this exhibit were invited due to the quality of their work and the uniqueness of their vision.  They include Richard Lathrop from Eaton; Donna Brinkman from Dayton; Thelma Frame from Richmond; Carol Strock Wasson from Union City; Ray Hassard, Marlene Steele and Sheila Fleischer from Cincinnati, Pam Newell and Mary Ann Davis from Indianapolis; and Don Gardi from Aurora.

This exhibit will open on July 8 and continue through August 15th.  A public reception will take place at the Art Center on Friday, July 11th from 6pm to 8pm – many of the invited artists are expected to attend.  The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
