About the poor audio issue… Commissioner Robertson tried.

The Preble County Commission meetings are recorded to audio and available upon request for 15 cents per cd.  Anyone that listens to the audio or looks at an agenda will hear or read:

VI. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

NOTE RECEIPT OF & CONSIDER APPROVAL BY SIGNING THE JOURNALIZATION & NOTE RECEIPT OF THE CD RECORDATION BOTH AS THE OFFICIAL MINUTES FOR THE —date— REGULAR SESSION MEETING

As the “official minutes” the audio should be of better quality.

Commissioner Denise Robertson tried years ago to drag the other two commissioners into a more updated transparency of county commission meetings.  The stonewalling by the other two commissioners past and present has continued for the six and a half years since.

1 hr.  7.6 Minute mark    Commissioner Denise Robertson – Real quick, would this be a good time to talk about a video? Installing a camera with our audio? … also mentions putting that and audio online.

There has been an issue with poor audio levels for years. When this transparency project was started the audio was recorded and made available to the public in what is known as an .a01 file format. Some years ago I brought the poor volume level issue up and the assistant clerk informed me there were two audio channels. There was one channel for the mics on the commission desk and the other for those at the conference table and podium. At that time I requested the conference and podium. This led to complaints about not being able to regularly hear all the commissioners – Chris Day’s volume was often an issue and it was believed at times he must have sat back further from his mic.  That is not the problem now as all commissioner audio recorded while they are at their commission seats is fine.

At some point, I was asked by a friend how they could get a cd of their own (M.B.). That person requested one but could not listen to the .a01 format. I told Connie about it and the commission audio was eventually switched to the more common .mp3 format.  This unfortunately became a step back for audio quality.
