PCDL Brown Bag Speaker Series scheduled

The schedule of speakers for the Preble County District Library’s 2014 Brown Bag series has been set. This year’s schedule will bring a wealth of information to area businesses and nonprofit organizations.

The PCDL has speakers scheduled for the last Thursday of each month, May through September. The presentations will begin at noon in the meeting room at the Preble County District Library Administration Offices at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

Thursday, May 29

“Measuring Effectiveness of Online Marketing” presented by Earl Gregorich of the Wright State University Small Business Development Center. Companies and nonprofits put a lot of time and energy into websites and social media to get the word out. But are those efforts paying off? This class will teach you how to find out. You will learn what tools are available, the important data points, and how to apply what you learn to measure online and traditional marketing efforts.

“Email Marketing” presented by Earl Gregorich of the Wright State University Small Business Development Center. Communicating through email is the perfect way for businesses and nonprofits to connect with people. Email is easy, affordable, timely, and has a far greater response rate than direct mail. This class will teach you the basics of using Constant Contact and offer tips on email marketing etiquette and how to use it creatively and effectively to grow your business/nonprofit.

Thursday, Aug. 28

“Grants at a Glance” presented by Genevieve Richardson, Nonprofit and Grants Librarian at Dayton Metro Library. This session will help you quickly get your bearings in the world of grants. You will learn who makes grants, who can receive grants, where to find grant opportunities, and how to develop a strong grant proposal. (Note: Most grant opportunities are available only to nonprofit and government agencies, not to for-profit businesses).

Thursday, Sept. 25

“Nonprofit Board Governance” presented by Mary Bullen, former President of Bullen Ultrasonics. Boards are the driving force behind nonprofit organizations. Learn about what makes a good board, identifying potential conflicts of interest, and the roles and importance of board members.

The Brown Bag speaker series is presented in conjunction with the Preble County Chamber of Commerce and the Preble County Development Partnership.
