Lakengren Recycling – CORSA

The County still has money available and needs more vacant/abandoned homes to tear down.  If you know of such a building (residential) then give Connie Crowell a phone call at 456-8143 and maybe it can be torn down.

File 5 had a review of the recycling efforts of Lakengren at the landfill. If you are interested in this subject then please listen to the audio file. They will meet again in a month.

The issue of liability was brought up by Connie Crowell when she mentioned concern as to how CORSA would feel if they saw images that were shown at the meeting. CORSA is a county risk sharing authority and she was right to be concerned. The issue is that CORSA has been brought up on a number of issues this year but not by Chris Day who happens to be the State President. Is this an honorary post with great vacation destinations for conferences?  My feeling is that the first person bringing up these concerns should be someone connected to CORSA but that has rarely if ever been the case this year.  It has been either David Wesler or Connie raising concerns and calling people at CORSA with questions while the President sits there in the commission chamber – odd, very odd.

REVIEW OF LAKENGREN RECYCLING

Randy Gilbert shows slides and video.

Listen to the audio if you are interested in this subject.

40 Minute mark  Safety issues discussed.

45.4 Minute mark   Video from previous Friday.

46.5 Minute mark   Randy Gilbert recommendation. Mentions tipping fee for recyclables if the Board (Commissioners) want. them to continue. Roll-off costs higher than if they had dumpsters out and about. Labor costs to deal with this are substantial over and above that – essentially almost doubling the cost.

49.5 Minute mark   Representative from Lakengren speak.  Some contrasting views on issues and expenses.

56 Minute mark   Denise Robertson asks if $50 a ton tipping fee. Lakengren would official would object.

59 Minute mark   Connie feels that if the county is going to do this another month that the Lakengren employees should stay in the truck – mentions concern if CORSA saw this.

Lakengren official mentions they can provide a copy of their liability insurance.

Will meet again next month.
