Creech Continues to Make Accusations On Partnership Funding

It is my belief that video in the commission chamber would have made the economic development exchange more civil – at least I hope so.

The condescending attitude present at the Monday meeting exchange continued at this Wednesday meeting.  If anything it probably went a little overboard and got personal. This time though Commissioner Day supported Commissioner Robertson’s claim on self sufficiency.  I suggest listening to the audio as it was again contentious.  Commissioner Creech rattled of figures from Warren County in what appeared to be a misguided attempt to show Preble was not spending enough on economic development when census data shows Preble is spending more per capita than Warren County. Rodney more likely raised questions about Preble spending too much on economic development.  As an example from 2010 – 2014 the population of Preble County dropped while the popualtion of Warren County grew.  Here is the census data:

7.3 Minute mark   Offers clarification from Monday's meeting. He is referring to transcripts – I think we need to set something straight because it keeps talking about economic development being self sustainable.  Ok before going any further I suggest listening to this audio and forming your own opinion. This is a contentious exchange.

Warren County puts in $300,000 to their economic development per year – Warren County Port authority returns $50,000 a year to the General Fund.  Preble County puts in $88,000 cash and $12,000 in rent for office space.

13.75 Minute mark   This is a flat out attack by Rodney Creech on the credibility of Commissioner Robertson and her claim that the previous commission sold economic development as being self sustaining when they levied the 1 mill conveyance tax (see below as she was right).

16.45 Minute mark   Commissioner Day – Well just for clarification the goal is and always was that they would generate revenue in many different forms. Listen to the audio.
