Yorke Questions Commission on Unclaimed Funds – Preble County Visitors’ Guide – OSU Extension Update

File 3 is the public comments area and has William Yorke in to question the commission on taking $131,000 in unclaimed funds collected over the last five years.  This is money that belonged to residents of the county that they never claimed, most likely because they were unaware that they were owed the money. Bill asks what kind of effort was put forth and it did not sound like much.  He also asked about the county removing the ½% sales tax that was levied years ago to pay for the county jail construction. The jail was paid off last year but  Commissioners Wesler & Day said it was needed to pay for repairs and updates on the 18 year old facility.

Resolution 254 and resolution 255 transferred the $131,083.03 in unclaimed funds into the General Fund.

File 5 was an interesting discussion on a Preble County Visitors’ Guide. Read my transcription or even better listen to the audio file.

File 6 appears to start with the OSU Extension update already in progress.

File 7 provides a more detailed explanation of the Homeless Shelter issue.

There is lengthy meeting with landfill officials some of which was in preparation for the evening meeting at Lakengren that evening meeting was not on the audio cd that I received.

The cd closed with Charlie Biggs in for a meeting on creating a Dangerous Wild Animal Response Team as required by the state.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

William Yorke from around New Paris. He has been listening to the audio and has a question on the county taking control of $131,000 in unclaimed funds. Asks very good question on what type of effort was put forth before the county takes the money from people.  Listen to the audio file.

Asks about removing the 1/2% sales tax on the jail that has been paid for. The tax was originally put in place to pay for the jail. Dave Wesler claims it will be needed to pay for repairs to the 18 year old jail.

Chris Day mentions over $100,000 in expected expenses at jail.

Denise Robertson on a phone call about the CVB brochure. Missing restaurant information and no offer of space.

Dave Wesler – The brochure was put out by the Register Herald at their expense. It is a nice brochure but you are right it did lack eating establishments and on the back page there was an advertisement from an out of county company but they I guess contract with the Register Herald to run so many ads throughout the year. For some reason the Register Herald chose to put that ad into there. Even if you look under the Bridges Bikes and Blues it doesn't say that it says Bikes Bridges and Blues or something to that effect. So I would assume that when the CVB I would hope when they redo the brochure with more brochures that are needed. Maybe they do take into consideration some restaurants, additional restaurants and maybe once again they would have to pay for this brochure themselves and I gave my brochure away yesterday at the New Paris Chamber of Commerce meeting. So I don't have it to show you guys but Shawnda I know has some of them.

Denise Robertson – Ok

Connie – These are new brochures?

Dave Wesler – Yes, touting the CVB ahh advertisement for a lot of the festivals. But once again these folks I guess, I think paid an advertisement to be in there but I think Shawnda has had some of the restaurants pulled up and put in there and she submitted it but the Register Herald did not put it in. The brochure.

Connie – Preble County CVB?

Denise Robertson – Yes

Chris Day – There the ones that put it out?

Dave Wesler – The Register Herald is actually the one that printed it and said they would print so many thousands of them. I am not sure if it was 6,000 for some reason 6 sticks in my head. See the January 30, 2013 meeting post – it was 5000.

Connie – Was it an insert in the Register Herald?

Denise Robertson – It is a complete brochure.

Mechanism of Action : It’s time to make ED consider about different ways to attack the sexual lives of males, as till the cheap Kamagra Fizz is present in the market at 50% to 70% lower price than continue reading here viagra without prescription, but you are not forced to go through embarrassment, humiliating procedures and therapies, as if in punishment for not being able to hold their.
Connie – Really?

Denise Robertson – I haven't seen it yet. I just got a phone call. An unhappy phone call.

Dave Wesler – Well once again it was done by the Register Herald free of charge so ahh that was in ahh the future.

Denise Robertson – So that didn't cost the CVB anything? Wow that is fantastic. That is very nice of the Register Herald.

Chris Day – Was it done on behalf of the CVB?

Dave Wesler – Well I don't know. I don't know how they pulled all of the information together but I think they did tell the CVB they were going to be putting one out if that was ok and I think the CVB said fine but what like I said think there was some information that was submitted to them and because of space reasons and stuff like that everything didn't get in what they really wanted.

Chris Day – I guess my only question is; I appreciate the Register Herald doing that

Denise Robertson – Absolutely

Chris Day –  If the CVB is going to have their name attached to it I think they need to have some dialect on what is going to be in that.  BINGO Exactly right! .

Denise Robertson –  ??? obvious choice as a Visitors Bureau.

Chris Day – Yeah, I haven't seen it, I don't know what all is in it so?

Denise Robertson – I haven't seen it either.

Chris Day – I am just saying the fact that they would have a conversation with the Register Herald and try and get as much information as possible.

Dave Wesler – I believe the last time Jean was in here she mentioned that.  File 7    January 30, 2013

Denise Robertson – She did mention it when she was here last. They didn't send us a proof. I don't know how much communication the CVB & the Register Herald had. Hopefully they will have more in the future. Like Chris said, have a little more input into it. But it great that the Register Herald did it no doubt.
