Pat Taylor Addresses Commission on Preble County Fairgrounds

Pat Taylor addressed the Preble County Commission during “Public Comments”. His topic was the Preble County Fairgrounds and the possibility of the Commission taking control of the property which they hold title to for the citizens of Preble County.  Listen to the audio as his comments reflect a growing concerned view shared with me by other citizens in the county.  The view is that; if there can be an agreement with the Preble County Pork festival that gives that event control over the Fairgrounds for a time period before, during and after the Festival then why can’t a similar agreement be imposed on the Fair Board?  The Fair Board would have control of the Fairgrounds for a three week period before, during and after the Fair.  Pat mentioned an offer from a citizen would hire and pay a professional manager to oversee the Fairgrounds and book events. Pat’s idea is that the Fairgrounds could after that three year period be a financial asset to the County General Fund.  He feels strongly enough that he volunteered to testify on his knowledge of other Redbook violations.

The county commission has been called on numerous times to spend more taxpayer money on the facilities but currently lacks administrative control over the property. Commissioner Denise Robertson asked about the Ohio Revised Code stating that the fairgrounds would be administered by the county Ag Society.

Pat is not alone with his views but currently the ultimate responsibility is with the Ag Society members who vote during the election held during the Preble County Fair and elect the Board.
